It is with great sadness that we share the news of Dan’s passing. Beloved husband of Carolyn (née Hibberd) for 61 years, and loving father to Tracey (Calvin), and Paula (Jody). Very proud grandpa to Adam, Marc, Lucas, Evan, Ryan, Rachel, and Sophie. Predeceased by his brothers Michael, and Jim (Voyo), and loving brother to Denise. Uncle to 6 nephews and nieces.
Memories from the grandkids: “There are people who tell you they love you, and then there are people who spend a lifetime showing you. That was our Grandpa. He taught us from the very beginning that actions always speak louder than words. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without ever expecting anything in return. Family always came first. To us, he was larger than life – a true beast in every sense of the word. Some of our favourite memories are the simple ones: countless games of Euchre, Tricks & Jenga, trips to the racetrack, many drives to our sports with food in hand just to make sure we were taken care of, picking us up from the school bus, and family meals where no one was ever allowed to leave hungry. He believed nothing should ever go to waste and somehow always convinced us to have just one more helping. He always showed up for both the important and mundane moments. His trademark sense of humour and bottomless bag of sweets were a treat every visit. He knew everyone wherever he went and never missed an opportunity to brighten someone’s day with a kind word or small gesture (including the dogs!). We will miss him deeply and carry his love with us always.
 "Rest easy Grandpa.”
The family would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Desbois, as well as Dan’s Personal Support Workers and the Bayshore Nurses who helped with his care for the past 11 months. Also, our awesome neighbours who went over and above to ensure his comfort and care while he stayed at home.
For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Dan’s memory.
